Atallah
It is a common family name between Druzes in “Ain Dara” and Christians in “Kartaba”, “Ashkout”,

long time ago by Christians and Muslims.
The Christian Atallahs’ in “Kartaba”, “Ashkout” and the nearby villages, are originated from an Arabic
family, Ghassan, and it is also said that it may be originated from Rabi’a which has with the Sakhinys’ the
same pedigree. This family immigrated from a village near “Tadmor” to “Al-Akoura”. There are many
branches derived from this family. Some immigrated to “Deir el Kamar”: a branch moved to “Ikleem At
-Touffah”, and a branch resided in “Aktaneet” (Sidon) from which are derived the Haykals’ and the
Ibrahims’, others immigrated to “Yanouh” and others to “Yahshoush” (Al Ftouh) then to “Ashkout” where
they were known by the Chediacs’ to whom the Za’arours’ in “Kornat Shehwan” are belonged and from

they were known by the Jbeilys’.
Fr.Ghosteen As-Sakhny agrees with what we mentioned above as he says: the Atallahs’ in “Kartaba”,

“Zomorrod” and they got seven children: Saleh, Ghanem, Mansour, Abdallah, Fares, two others
(unknown) and Eve who was the cause of the Atallahs’ immigration from “Yanouh” to “Lehfed”.
Moreover, he says: Atallah Sa’ad immigrated from “Hjoula” to “Kartaba” from where his sons Mourad,
Ghanem, Yashou’, and Aoun immigrated to “Ftouh Kousrouwan” (Ghbali and Yahshoush). The Atallahs’
