The Virgin Mary in the Maronite Church

 Which words describe you, Lady of the Word?
 Which color draws you?
 “See, darkness covers the earth and thick darkness is over the peoples, but the Lord rises upon you
 and his glory appears over you.
 Nations will come to your light, and Kings to the brightness of your dawn.” (Isaiah 60:2-3).

 You are Mary!
 Your name means “Sea Star”.
 The light and hope of our hearts;
 The sails, traveling in the sea of life;
 and trembling from the storms of death.
 The haven of salvation and the land of peace.
 You are “The Lady”!
 Ascending in greatness,
 “You will be a crown of splendor in the Lord’s hand, a royal diadem in the hand of your God”
 (Isaiah 62:3).

 So that God crowns you the Sultana of angels and human beins, and the Queen of the Worlds...
 You are Mary!
 The beauty of the sky and the joy of the earth.
 The second sky, home of the King of glory, mother of God, our mother.

Why do Maronites honor Mary?  My evangelical friend asked me: “The Holy Scripture does not say we should honor Mary. Why do Maronites honor Mary? I said: We are called to imitate Jesus for He is the Way, the Truth, and Life. We are called to love what Jesus  loves and to hate what Jesus hates (sin). We are also called to honor whoever he honors. Jesus honored his mother otherwise he would have broken the 4th commandment (honor your father & mother).
